A Book of Shadows is more than a notebook — it’s your magical companion. It holds your spells, rituals, dreams, and personal discoveries. Over time, it becomes a reflection of your path as a witch.

What It Is — Traditionally, a Book of Shadows (BOS) is a personal record of a witch’s craft. It can include correspondences, magical recipes, tarot spreads, moon phase notes, and anything else that inspires your practice.

Choosing Your Book — Your BOS can be anything: a leather journal, a ring binder, a digital document, or even a handmade scrapbook. Pick something you enjoy writing in — that’s the most important part.

What to Include — Start with the basics: your magical ethics, a dedication page, moon phase meanings, herbal notes, and any spells you try. Leave space to add more over time.

Handwritten or Digital? — Handwriting can feel more personal and connected, but digital formats make it easy to edit, organise, and back up your work. Many witches use both — a handwritten BOS for sacred writing, and a digital grimoire for quick reference.

Personal Touches — Decorate with sketches, pressed flowers, printed images, or handwritten calligraphy. Your BOS is a living work of art — don’t be afraid to make it beautiful and uniquely yours.

Keeping It Safe — Store it somewhere you can reach easily, but away from damage. If it’s private, you can bless it for protection or keep it in a special box.

Final Thought — Your Book of Shadows is never “finished.” It grows with you, changes with you, and tells the story of your magical life. Treat it with care, fill it with truth, and it will become one of your most treasured tools. 🌙💚
